Having a life altering illness, or being chronically ill, introduces you to a “whole new world”. People who deal with illness on a daily basis, have to reconfigure their entire life and how they live. Things are very, very different. It’s hard to explain, unless you live it. It’s like suddenly moving to a different country, all by yourself. Everything you once knew and were familiar with is gone in an instant. Everyone is speaking some (unknown to you) foreign language. You can communicate a little by universal signs and body language, but other than that, NO one can understand you, no matter how hard you try or how loud you scream. And that, is an extremely lonely feeling.
